My Beliefs and Skills
I read in HBR that post-COVID in US we will have "more than 140 million people out of work and another 1.6 billion at risk of income loss." Most jobs are lost forever
" Shifting to a skills-focused approach is a viable solution to an evolving workforce dilemma. Workers often don’t realize that the skills they have for one job can be easily transferred to another — nor do employers."
I breathe deeply, and I am trying to describe myself in terms of skills and beliefs
My Beliefs and skills
Retirement
We are all mortals, but this discovery becomes acute after the age of fifty. Each day is a gift from God. God is under no obligation to give another day. We should treasure this gift and ask how can I make this day more Holly.
And I reject the Shmucks on Silicon Valley who discriminate middle agers and elders
.
" If you are still alive, it means you have something left to do:
The very fact that God has granted a person a single additional day of bodily life
means that he has not yet concluded his mission in life, that there is still
something for him to achieve in this world. [Lubavitcher Rebbe]"
There is no retirement. Does not mean must die on paid job, but means must be useful to the end. How is a person's worth to be measured? If his physical strength has waned while his life experience, sagacity and insight have grown, is this an improvement or a decline?
Dadaism
The artist is universal, inspiring across any borders. It seeds new thoughts. The word Art and its' unique way to communicate sentiments, does not exist in business.
What is Dada? A video. you must watch
Is credibility a sentiment? No is not. Does a piece of art expresses a desire to increase sales? No it doesn't. PR is designed for 99.99% of people who see only prismatic light. - the colors of the visible spectrum produced by passing white light through a prism; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
But this is only 0.01% of what it up there. It is this invisible 99.99% Realm is for a minority who can live moments of clarity, rapture, insight, expanded consciousness, epiphany or even the revelation that allow us to pick the winning numbers in the lottery
Flow or Happiness
"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” Aristotle
A psychologist with a hard to pronounce name is Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
He discovered that people find genuine satisfaction during a state of consciousness called Flow
In this state they are completely absorbed in an activity, especially an activity which involves their creative abilities. During this “optimal experience” they feel “strong, alert, in effortless control, unselfconscious, and at the peak of their abilities.”
In the footsteps of Maslow, Csikszentmihalyi insists that happiness does not simply happen. It must be prepared for and cultivated by each person, by setting challenges that are neither too demanding nor too simple for ones abilities.
"The best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times… The best moments usually occur if a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.
The impossibility of being objective
It is humanly impossible to be completely objective. The Rabbis know that "Every person has a bias of some kind"
We may live without an agenda, but we can not live without bias. "Through a mix of nature, nurture and free will, we all possess a certain lens that frames and forms the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.
It is simply not possible to erase all traces of our personality, past experiences and deeply held beliefs, no matter how hard we may try.
The adopted frame either consciously or unconsciously, deeply impacts the way we perceive reality. This is a personal matrix of understanding is like a personal operating system, through which we construe and contextualize , react and reinforce, interpret and identify every intersection may experience.
Based on this unavoidable subjectivity, we conclude
- living positively is a matter of choice, not circumstance
- It is not the events of out life that shape us, but the meaning we assign to these events
Breakthrough success is mystical
The Chabad Rebbe said that many individuals cannot commit to a cause based only on systematic thought and reasoned conclusions. The trend has been, instead, to relate to symbols that are less abstract, and more tangible and emotional.
I posit that Steve Jobs believed he could lead his followers to his core principles... History has proved that Steve Jobs’s analysis and approach were correct and effective. In other words, the strategy worked – and it continues to work, fueling his mission, even after his passing. Both the Apple followers and others who were initially outsiders began by establishing an emotional bond with Steve’s vision. From that bond, they continued further and further
Freelance writer style
I do NOT write for Public Relations. I do not write for Google search visibility. I write for people and I care about their sentiments. We don't buy from people who are only geeky. We don't buy because a technology. We buy to satisfy a human need, a passion, a dream, something that make our life easier and more pleasant
Readability
If people don't read what I write then the whole effort is in vain. My writing must flow, using words any body can understand. I am respectful of my clients, but I defend my right to be me
I will update this list over time.
Super-Entrepreneurs
Silicon Valley entrepreneurship consist mostly in adding features to existing products and services. This is a sure passport to insignificance. We need entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, Zuckerberg, the Google founders. We need an increase supply of entrepreneurs who start from scratch, doing everything upside down, like the dadaists
