I think this concept has great pot...Excellent post. I think this concept has great potential. In Germany, where I grew up, there are over 700 workshops for handicapped people http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werkstatt_f%C3%BCr_behinderte_Menschen<br />which offer a variety of jobs for people with all kinds of disabilities, be it physical or mental, and allow them to live a productive life while embedded in the social environment of a work place. Those workshops pay out salaries and recover part it from the companies that use these shops, but they also get subsidies from the public for additional services, such as social service workers that help organizing the entire life of the workers. I think this concept of for-profit work that allows people to live productive lives and offer a protective social environment is a great institution, and its time something like this would be instituted here as well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
